Boasting sales of over 250 million copies worldwide, Pink Floyd’s “timeless sound art” shines forever in rock history. Originally formed in the mid-’60s as a psychedelic rock band led by the genius Syd Barrett (G, Vo). Other members are Roger Waters (B), Rick Wright (Key), Nick Mason (Dr). The band’s name is taken from two bluesmen, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. In 1967, after releasing two hit singles, he released his first album, “Dawn no Kuchifuki”. The critically acclaimed album had a strong Syd Barrett flavor. At the beginning of the following year, David Gilmour (G) joined the band. Meanwhile, Sid suffers a mental breakdown and effectively leaves the band. Pink Floyd incorporated song structures that included long instrumental parts into their previous experimental aspects, gradually shaping what would later be called progressive rock. And 1973’s “Crazy” was their music that bore fruit in the best possible way. It can be said that this is a successful album in terms of music, performance, spirit, and recording. It reached No. 1 in the US and set a record of staying in the chart for 741 weeks. It was one of the best-selling rock albums of all time and continues to sell worldwide today. It is a monster album that charted within the US Billboard 200 for 15 years. After that, he released masterpiece albums such as 1975’s “Homura – I want you to be here”, 1977’s “Animals”, and 1979’s “The Wall”. After releasing “Final Cut” in 1983, he practically ceased activities. Roger Waters left the band in 1986, but it developed into a legal battle with other members, mainly Gilmore. After all, it continues as Floyd centered on Gilmour. Released “Utsu” in 1987, followed by a very successful tour. Although no original work was released after “TSUI” in 1994, Roger Waters also participated in “LIVE 8” held in the summer of 2005, achieving a miraculous reunion for one night only. . Syd Barrett, the founder of Pink Floyd, died on July 7, 2006. Rick Wright passed away on September 15, 2008. In November 2014, he released a new album “Eternity (TOWA)” for the first time in 20 years since 1994, and this will be his last album.
